A Lorain County-based food bank that’s been struggling to keep up with demand while dealing with a drastic drop in donations, received a major financial boost.
During their meeting June 15, Lorain County commissioners approved a $500,000 grant for the Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio.
The money will come from American Rescue Plan Act dollars the county received. Commissioners approved the resolution for the grant by a 3-0 vote.

Second Harvest, which has provided food to local food banks and hungry families in a four-county area for over three decades, laments that it’s getting harder and harder to feed those in need and keep up with demand.
