April is special at Second Harvest, not just because the temperatures are warmer, but it’s a month to honor our volunteers – those special people who work tirelessly side by side with us to bring food to families in need. April is National Volunteer Month and we’re proud and happy to recognize our volunteers for their accomplishments. Whether it’s tackling the endless list of projects and tasks or just their positivity – we couldn’t do it without them. Last year, 2,216 volunteers sorted 1.6 Million pounds of food and grocery products. Our volunteers do the work of eight full-time employees!
To all those who volunteer at Second Harvest – thank you!
The spirit of volunteerism is an essential ingredient at Second Harvest and our hope is to allow more members of our community to be part of our work. If you are inspired to help in your community reach out to us to find out more about how you can volunteer! There are so many opportunities –sorting food donations, welcoming visitors at our front desk, bring food to families at one of our school food pantries or packing up boxes for low-income seniors – and so many ways to give. We hope you will consider joining our volunteer ranks.
